A quiet clean sheet. With Barça dominating territory and Elche barely threatening, Joan’s night was more about concentration than action.
Christensen: 7.5
Christensen anchored the back line calmly, dealing with what little Elche created and helping suffocate their solitary striker for most of the ninety. His aerial presence was a breath of fresh air.
Gerard Martin: 8
Martin did his defensive job with minimal fuss. He had the most defensive contributions (11) and played 4 passes into the final third. Flawless as the LCB once again.
Eric Garcia: 8
Eric has rightfully cemented himself as a mainstay in the starting XI. He read Elche's rare forward forays with ease and seldom put a foot wrong, highlighted by a crucial last-ditch clearance in the 22nd minute.
Xavi Espart: 8.5
An exceptional full debut in an inverted role. Espart's press-resistance and passing range led to Fermin’s 2nd goal, his recovery led to the penalty, and defensively he barely put a foot wrong all afternoon. A statement performance.
Marc Bernal: 7
Bernal had a tough time getting on the ball in the opening exchanges as Elche's press cut off the passing lanes, forcing Barça long too often. Still, he steadied once Pedri came on and recovered possession for the 2nd goal.
Gavi: 6
Gavi's day ended early through injury, and with it went a lot of Barça's energy in the middle of the park. What we saw before he went off was combative, if unremarkable — the picture never really got the chance to develop.
Fermin Lopez: 9
Fermin was everywhere Barça needed him. He was a useful pressing trigger in
the first half, then capped a monster second-half display with a brace, scoring a golazo of his own after interchanging brilliantly with the front line.
Lamine Yamal: 6.5
A quieter game by his own standards. Elche's discipline early on limited his usual carries, and once the game shifted shape in the second half his influence faded further as fresher legs took over the right side.
Karim Adeyemi: 8
Adeyemi's first half was scratchy, constantly checking to his stronger foot and losing the ball as Elche pressed high. He grew into the game though, and his movement in behind became a weapon once the game opened up.
Raphinha: 10
Handed the number 9 role and toyed with Elche all game. Both opening goals stemmed directly from him leading the press and attacking the space behind. A captain's performance in every sense.
